M.V.K. Agro Food Product Limited was established in 2018. The company is a manufacturer of sugar and related products. It is located in the Nanded district of Maharashtra state. The company runs a sugar factory in one location, with a licensed crushing capacity of 2,500 TCD. In addition to sugar, the company also markets and sells by-products and waste products such as molasses, bagasse, and press mud. The company is also active in power generation for its consumption. The business can therefore be divided into two segments: sugar and by-products/waste products.
The company intends to further diversify its product portfolio by building a new plant to produce ethanol, bio-CNG and fertilizers. Ethanol is produced after the fermentation and distillation of molasses and can be further purified into fuel ethanol by removing the water content. The company intends to create an additional revenue stream by backward integrating its waste materials, i.e. molasses, to produce ethanol and marketing and selling it for industrial purposes.
The company's business model and products are inherently sustainable. The company sources its raw materials directly from farmers to ensure that it uses only natural ingredients for its products. Their business model ensures that farmers can reap their products' full benefits without sharing their revenue with middlemen. As the company sources its raw materials directly from farmers, it can offer its products at a lower price than its competitors and therefore has a unique pricing model.
The company believes that the full integration of its activities and the production of electricity for its own consumption have contributed to the sustainability of its operations. Its production unit is powered exclusively by electricity generated from the waste produced during sugar production.
