Nippon India Mutual Fund (NIMF) has been established as a trust having Nippon Life Insurance Company (NLI) as the Sponsor and Reliance Capital Trustee Co. Limited (RCTC) as the Trustee.
Reliance Mutual Fund has been renamed as Nippon India Mutual Fund (NIMF) following a deal with the Anil Ambani group.

It is one of India’s largest asset management companies with a total AUM of 4.22 lakh cr. as of March 31, 2019. Reliance Capital Limited and Nippon Life Insurance Company were the promoters of RNAM until recently Nippon Life owns 75 % stake in the company by paying Rs 6000 crore making it the single largest promoter. Equity Shares of RNAM are listed on BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India Limited.
