At the time of account opening, you have to register your mobile number to complete the KYC registration process to receive all the important communication. If you want to change the registered mobile number later anytime, then you must update KYC information. If you have an account with a broker who is a CDSL depository participant then you must ask your broker the process to update the mobile number registered in the Demat account and follow the same or else you can re-initiate the KYC registration process.
For instance, Zerodha is a DP with CDSL and offers an online mobile number update process through Console however, some brokers may provide an offline or manual form-based process to change contact details like mobile number and email ID.
