Zerodha asks for a mandatory TOTP while buying risky penny/illiquid stocks, where the chance of fraudulent activity is more.
The TOTP activation adds an extra layer of security to your login credentials and reduces the chance of stealing login credentials.
To set up the TOTP in your Kite- App, you have to download the Google Authenticator or Authy or Microsoft Authenticator application from the Google play store. Once the app is downloaded, follow the below steps on your device.
Now the TOTP will be activated and you can log in using the TOTP that is generated in your Google Authenticator App.
The TOTP is a way of adding extra security to your Login credentials in KITE. Once you enable the TOTP with Google authenticator or the AUTHY app, a six-digit TOTP will be generated every 30 seconds.
While logging into the kite will ask you to enter the six-digit TOTP. Make sure that you are entering the TOTP within 30 seconds.
Yes, it is possible to disable the TOTP 2FA login process. And you will be able to log in as before with your password and PIN.
You can disable the TOTP login system from your kite app by following the below process.
Zerodha has stopped providing its Pi platform. Pi was not a Zerodha in-house-built product and was dependent on a third-party vendor for support.
However, you can take the Zerodha API subscription and place orders from Amibroker by bridging the kite to the Amibroker platform.
Below are some key unique features at Zerodha.
NUDGE- With Nudge Zerodha helps its users avoid mistakes while taking any decision during buying and selling of securities. Zerodha shows you a warning Nudge if you try buying any dubious or penny stocks, or very illiquid scrips or stocks with corporate action, etc.
KITE ALERT- You can set an alert on various parameters using the Kite Alert feature through Zerodha. You will get a Mail and Mobile notification when the price hits the price condition set by you.
EVENT TAG- Zerodha has a cool feature in kite showing an event tag with the scrip name if it has any important event like financial results, corporate action, or Annual General meeting in the company.
GTT- This is one of the most popular features in Zerodha. The Good till triggered (GTT) feature works like an order that is active until the trigger condition is met. This trigger will be valid for one year. This helps you not to monitor the stock prices actively.
GIFT STOCK- You can gift Stocks, Mutual funds, Bonds, and ETFs to any of your friends or family member through the Zerodha Gift feature.
BASKET ORDER- Basket order helps you in placing multiple orders in one go. You can execute up to 20 orders in one basket at the same time. This is very helpful while making FNO strategies and their execution.
Without the support code, you will not be able to connect to the Zerodha customer helpline. You can see your support code in Kite app by visiting Profile> Manage account>View support code. On the web, you can visit Myprofile>view(support code).
