How can I convert physical shares in demat format?

To convert physical shares in demat format, you need to open demat account. You can open demat account with any bank or share broker. Once you have your demat account active you can follow below given steps:

  1. Download or request the Dematerialisation Request Form from your broker ( 2-3 copies).
  2. Fill 3 DRF forms and sign one for yourself, one for DP and one for the RTA (Registrar And Share Transfer Agent)
  3. Attach 2 copy of self-signed Identity proof (PAN card or Aadhar Card).
  4. The original share certificates signed (you can keep photocopy of certificates for your reference).
  5. Send the document to your broker/bank who can take it forward for further verification. The process will take 2 to 3 weeks with the RTA (Registrar And Share Transfer Agent) after document submission.
